Another week gone and he’s what has me sore:
Hey Jimmy Rollins! How about shutting that hot air hole under your nose and just play ball? You whine and cry about the fans in this town booing and tell us that we’re not “helping” the situation. Well let me tell you a few other things that aren't helping the situation:
-
How about your lackadaisical play this year? When a “players” manager has to dole out discipline, that’s a sign that the player is taking advantage of the situation and not in a good way.
-
How about your inability to tell time?
-
How about your constant need to swing at the first pitch, which usually results in a pop-up.
-
How about not having much of a clue about situational hitting?
I could go on and on but this is wearing me out. Jimmy, perhaps you took notice when Aaron Rowand came back to Philly. Did you notice the standing ovations? Do you have any clue what it takes to become a Philly legend? Aaron was here only a few years and I predict he’ll always get such a reception. He’s done something you seem unwilling to do. Any ideas what that is Jimmy? Here’s a clue: he gave it his all. Perhaps someday you’ll give us the same.
On a more positive note. How about that Michael Phelps? Talk about American dominance! This kid is unreal, the Michael Jordan of swimming. I actually watched the Olympics because of this kid. In the past, the Olympics seemed like a mega-commercialized event without much substance. Not this year. Continue the great work Michael. You have a new fan here.
Ok now onto the Eagles. Having watched the game the other night against the Panther, I have some concerns about the team this year. Now granted some of the starting offensive line were playing out of position or not at all, their performance left a little to be desired. These guys are professionals, but really, offensive line is offensive line. I’ve seen Pee-Wee O-Line play better. But it wasn’t all bad. That young WR, DeSean Jackson had quite a respectable game for a rookie WR or a veteran WR for that matter. Seven catches for 71 yards, not a bad days work. I’m hoping for more positive things from him this year. If there was anything Donovan needed, it was someone not named Westbrook to which to throw the ball. I think the Eagles have that this year.
Flyers baby! I’m happy to see that John Stevens will be around a few more years. Considering that he took a last place team to the conference finals proves that he can coach and with this young team, a calm steady hand is needed. Combine that with Craig Berube and Eric Desjardin joining the coaching staff, this team has the beginnings of a great coaching staff. Stanley Cup anyone?
Sixers? Ok, so they signed Andre Iguodala to an obscene contract. He played his cards right which I must give him credit for that but 6 years, 80 million? Ed Stefanski, what were you thinking? I just don’t see him being worth that? What really has he proven? Sure, he can score, he certainly can play ball but he’s not quite to that player yet worthy of such a contract. He’s no Lebron nor Kobe, not quite the player who can take over a game by himself. Sure he’s close but not there yet. Course, that’s just my opinion, maybe he’ll prove me wrong. We shall see.
